What The Echo said... Monday 1st February

Cheesy, pun-filled Greek odyssey with no obvious Achilles

With Troy Story, their self-styles mythological panto, Blag It! Theatre Company have taken the story of Helen of Troy and adapted it in their own inimitable way. It combined puns aplenty, film and music-referenced humor, jokes based on cheese, and double entendre that made it definitely not a family show. While very long, the show maintained its pace and carried the enthusiastic audience in its wake. Audience interaction was excellent, the players dealing with all interruptions with considerable aplomb. There were some clever touches. The use of multimedia was handled well and the Benny Hill-inspired film of building a Trojan horse went down a storm. And never again will we be able to accept We are the champions sung without Latin subtitles.
The players were obviously having immense fun. The production blagged its way into the audience’s affections
