I have endeavored to transport you back in time (oh yes I have...) and visit all the pantomimes that we as a theatre company ,under various guises, have produced for your viewing pleasure. They have all taken place at "The Talking Heads" in Portswood over many years (more than I care to think about actually!) I hope you enjoy this trip down memory lane...
The Life of the company started many moons ago, when an inspired and insightful person by the name of Emma stamped her mark on The Talking Heads. The once regular locals pub became a platform for not only music but film and theatre, hence the birth of The Talking Heads Theatre Company.
Over 6 years The Talking Heads Theatre Company produced and performed many theatre pieces as well as self penned productions. In it's first year the venue achieved high accolade from the press and media with their debut production of 'Shakers' by John Godber followed were such productions as 'The Coming of Stork', 'Bold Girls' and extracts from the Alan Bennett monologues 'Talking Heads'
After several years of success, Emma left the venue for greater things though she remained a member of the newly formed 'Dead Cat Bounce' this company continued in the same vein of it's predecessor and took such plays as 'An Evening with Gary Lineker' on tour. Unfortunately the Dead Cat did Bounce, and the company disbanded leaving a dent in the theatre side of The Talking Heads. The venue changed hands and re-directed itself towards the musical side and theatre was lost.
Not any more, in 2003 several members of the previous two companies got together and formed The Blag it! Theatre Company. This has seen productions of the like never seen before, taking movie scripts and adapting them for the stage, with one of the biggest challenges being ''Clue'' the John landis movie starring Tim Curry in 2005 along with Agatha Christie's ''Murder on The Orient Express'' in 2007.
Blag it! in the last 5 years have built up an almost cult following for its Christmas productions where again we take a well known story and add our unexpected twist coupled with traditional patomime elements to produce a show that has been well recieved by audiences and press alike. With spectacular reviews for shows such as ''Star Wars- The Panto Menace'' , The Naivety'' and ''A Christmas Corral'' we hope to continue in the same vein...thanks to you
So to all who have supported us over the many years a big thank you, and to all those people we've not met yet, we look forward to seeing you in the not too distant future...
